Job Summary: As a member of the healthcare team, the Surgical Center Support Specialist provides essential ancillary support to the surgical center and its staff. This role involves maintaining supplies, organizing storage areas, and assisting with various tasks. The Specialist ensures smooth operations within the facility, contributing to patient care and overall efficiency. Essential Responsibilities: Case Preparation: Select and assemble sterile disposable supplies for specific procedures based on physician preference cards. Stock operating rooms (O.R.) with necessary items, including Arthroscopy fluid and suction canisters. Maintain stock in admitting room cabinets, post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) cabinets, and bathrooms. Organize and manage supplies and storage areas. Assist with O.R. cleaning tasks when needed (e.g., mopping, trash disposal, equipment sanitization). Receiving: Receive and process incoming orders, updating the computer system. Discharge patients via wheelchair and assist them into their vehicles. Provide support in the PACU (e.g., dressing patients, offering refreshments, cleaning patient cubicles after discharge). Stock cabinets in the PACU, admitting area, bathrooms, and kitchen. Manage the blanket warmer and assemble patient belonging bags. Miscellaneous: Set up, organize, stock, and clean supply and linen areas. Assist with inventory management and retrieval of supplies and equipment. Ensure cleanliness and adherence to standards for rooms, equipment, and furniture. Handle biomedical waste disposal (e.g., preparing boxes for discards). Assist with emergency procedures as directed. Maintain confidentiality of patient and center communications and documents. Foster a positive and caring attitude toward patients, peers, staff, physicians, and all other contacts. Perform other tasks assigned by the Surgical Center Director. Skills and Abilities: Efficient multitasking without compromising accuracy or focus. Strong organizational skills and timeliness. Pleasant phone demeanor. Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Adaptability to meet scheduling demands, including overtime and time changes. Effective collaboration with physicians, employees, and patients.
