Peninsula Community Health Services Certified Medical Assistant in Bremerton, Washington

The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing support to providers during routine clinical exams, collecting health information and maintaining accurate documentation in healthcare records.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • A Medical Assistant Certified may perform the following duties:
    • Obtaining and recording patient history
    • Telephone and in-person screening limited to intake and gathering of patient information
    • Maintaining medication and immunization records
    • Performing accurate and correct diagnostic testing including hearing, vision, and EKG
    • Performing point of care CLIA waved testing
    • Capillary blood withdrawal, venipuncture and injections (intradermal, subcutaneous and intramuscular)
    • Collecting specimen and processing to outside lab
    • Procedures for sterilizing equipment and instruments
    • Assisting in sterile procedures, taking vital signs, preparing patients for exam
    • Practicing standard precautions
  • Assists in training Medical Assistant Apprentices and volunteers
  • Familiar with using electronic health record (Ex. Athena)
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no direct reports.

Qualifications

  • Active Medical Assistant license in Washington State (required)
  • Active CPR Certification (required)
  • Valid driver's license (required)

For pay equity purposes, PCHS calculates salaries based on a wage scale that incorporates a standardized approach to compensation. Accordingly, PCHS does not engage in salary negotiations for non-provider staff. Pay Range: $18.54 - $22.81 /hour DOE

Work Environment and Physical Demands

With multiple locations and settings, PCHS' work environment and physical demands vary greatly depending on the employee's role. Essential job functions include the following: The employee is required to talk, hear, see, smell, sit and stand. The employee is frequently required to move around the facility; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
