Summary

For over a century, HII has built and maintained the U.S. Navy’s most powerful warships. Join us as we continue to maintain the Navy’s readiness! We are seeking a Marine Interior Communications Specialist to be a member of the Carrier Engineering Maintenance Assist Team (CEMAT). The candidate will perform various duties like troubleshoot and repair various shipboard equipment. This position is full-time and located in our Bremerton, WA location.

What You Will Do

  • Troubleshoot and repair mass communication (MC) systems onboard US Navy ships.

  • Troubleshoot and repair sound powered phone systems onboard US Navy ships.

  • Assist in areas outside of specialty when required by CEMAT's workload and schedule.

  • Provide job status to internal and external senior management.

  • Performs a variety of complicated and non-routine tasks.

  • May provide direction and lead others.

What You Must Have

  • High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 6 years of related experience.

  • Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.

  • Must have knowledge and experience in troubleshooting and repair of shipboard Mass Communication (MC) systems.

  • Must have knowledge and experience in troubleshooting and repair of shipboard sound powered phone circuits.

  • Experience in reading and interpreting US Navy drawings, sketches, schematics, and blueprints.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Confidential Security clearance.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain base and ship access.

Preferred: Bonus Points For

  • Knowledge and experience with Ships Force regarding CEMAT’s Find-Fix-Train program in assessing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing equipment and systems.

  • A current, valid DoD Confidential security clearance or higher.

  • Knowledge and experience in shipboard valve position indicators (VPI).

  • Be familiar with U.S. Navy work authorization and Tag-out procedures.

  • Prefer technical/professional certifications.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
