Position Summary Information

Objective This position is funded by the Texas Workforce Commission grants and corporate closed contracts to develop and deliver workforce training related to industrial equipment operation. Corporate College is seeking a skilled industrial/heavy equipment operator trainer to train employees at businesses throughout the Blinn College District in the safe and efficient operation of industrial equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, overhead cranes, backhoes, aerial lifts, excavation/trenching, rigging, etc. The successful candidate will have a background in industrial/heavy equipment operation and a strong understanding of safety procedures.

Essential Duties Training - Instruction of short-term training courses at business locations throughout Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Madison, Robertson, and Washington Counties and/or other Blinn College campuses. Operate and effectively train others in the usage of industrial/heavy equipment Analyze, evaluate, and assess training needs of specific business Instruct trainees on how to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot heavy equipment Conduct practical and theoretical training sessions, including safe operation practices, machine maintenance, and troubleshooting Evaluate trainees progress and provide feedback to improve their skills Stay updated on industry trends, new machinery, and latest safety regulations Course development - Develop and implement training for new to experienced equipment operators. Develop training content according to the current industry rules and regulations, apply the adequate training procedures and standards, and acknowledge any new procedures, rules and regulations Assist in the development of safety protocols for equipment operation Assess the skills and knowledge of trainees and create customized training plans accordingly Coordinate with management to identify company training needs Administration - Complete and maintain administrative records. Maintain training records and evaluate the effectiveness of training sessions Track and submit trainee attendance records Enter course completion records into Blinns academic database (Banner) Collaborate with Corporate College administrative team to schedule training sessions Provide certification cards

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 5+ years proven work experience as an industrial equipment/heavy equipment operator and/or trainer Experience providing formal or informal industrial equipment related training to adult learners either in a classroom or on-the-job training setting Strong knowledge of heavy equipment operation and safety procedures Ability to travel to conduct training throughout the Blinn College District Flexible schedule/availability Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm Excellent communicator, with the ability to translate complex mechanical concepts into easily understood instructions High school diploma or equivalent. Additional education or training in a relevant field is preferred

Preferred Experience and Training Certification in heavy equipment operation or training is a plus OSHA 10 and 30 certified instructor (preferably general industry) is a plus Basic use of Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint)

The ideal candidate will be able to conduct many of the following industrial equipment courses offered through Blinns Corporate College De artment: - Forklift - Scissor Lift - Rigging - Excavating and trenching - Backhoe operator - Aerial lift/aerial work platform - Skid steer operator - Powered industrial truck operator - Overhead crane - Scaffold inspection

Physical Requirements Must be able to stand for extended periods of time while instructing Must possess the manual dexterity, flexibility and visual acuity to perform functions requiring walking, climbing, squatting, lifting, bending, twisting Must be mobile to maneuver in/out of equipment Must be able to lift 35 pounds Must have reliable transportation to drive to business locations in Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Madison, Robertson, and Washington Counties

Required Degree, License or Certifications High School Diploma or GED Proof of any held industrial equipment/heavy equipment licenses and/or certifications

Special Notes To Applicants This position is on an as needed basis. The training schedule is based on grant funding and closed contract availability. Courses are intermittent and are conducted based on the request and schedule of business partners matched with a trainer that is capable and available to teach a specific course.
