Transylvania Vocational Services Direct Support Provider - Residential in Brevard, North Carolina
OBJECTIVE: To provide the necessary support, supervision and training to facilitate service recipients’ skill acquisition, retention or improvement in the areas of self help, socialization, adaptive skills, communication and/or vocational employment skills. Services will be provided to individuals primarily in the community and residential setting/group home.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Provide training and support to individuals of varying skills and abilities
Directly supervises above-mentioned service recipients one on one, or in a group primarily in the community and group home
Timely completion of applicable documentation concerning service recipients.
Working knowledge of how specific disabilities may impact the residential and community environment
Ability to communicate effectively on multiple levels, using verbal, computer and written skills
Ability to demonstrate, teach, and model habilitation skills and interpersonal skills
Provide input on service recipients’ goal plan revision; implementation of the service recipients’ goal plan
Ability to recognize emergency situations and implement appropriate procedures
Maintain current certifications/screenings/coverage and/or working knowledge of :
First Aid (including seizure management and clearing airway obstructions)
CPR
medication administration
NCI de-escalation component (part A) of the restrictive intervention training
universal precautions for communicable diseases and blood-borne pathogens
NC driver’s license and personal automobile insurance

Ability to balance support for the service recipients’ stated choices against core responsibilities, limitations of the service recipient and potential risk; show ability to make sound judgments
Regularly drive service recipients to and from their activities
Provide assistance to each service recipient in the following areas;
Intervene and redirect service recipients regarding individual and/or group conflicts Facilitate participation in social enrichment activities Housekeeping skills and personal groomingProvide timely transportation for work, meetings, social outings, and medical appointments
Meal preparation Basic monetary transactions Administer medications and maintain necessary documentationThis is not intended to be an exclusive list as needs may change
Communicate maintenance needs of household, grounds, and vehicle to Resident Manager
Follow established policies and procedures
Demonstrate a respectful, professional, and cooperative relationship with service recipients in this program, their families/ caregiver/guardians
Document and keep receipts for petty cash expenses, make deposits as necessary
Must be able to read, write, understand and follow directions, possess basic math skills
Has physical ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, bend, twist, reach, push, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, mobility to get in and out of vehicles and assist service recipients in doing so, work in various weather conditions

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum High School diploma/GED from an accredited school and recognized by North Carolina as applicable
Minimum 18 years of age
Valid Driver’s License from any state / Note: A valid NC Driver’s License must be acquired within 60 days of hire if residing in North Carolina
Proof of personal automobile insurance including company name and policy number
Acceptable background, motor vehicle record, and sex offenders registry check, negative drug test, and no substantial findings on the NC Health Care Registry.
