Position Summary: The Director of Strategy & Business Development, Fairfield Region is instrumental in planning, evaluation and business development initiatives that contribute to the financial health and strategic growth of Hartford HealthCare. In this role the Director works side-by-side with senior and executive leadership as a subject matter expert who provides data analysis/expertise and insights on all strategic business questions. In the Fairfield Region, the Director is responsible for all business plans and monitoring of approved initiatives and supporting the provider access budgets which determine future strategic growth and resource needs. The role sits on both Cabinet and the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) for the Fairfield Region and is responsible for cascading the system’s strategic plans and long-term goals. Key Accountabilities: * Develops all business plans for new services, providers, partnerships, acquisitions, equipment and building projects including business case and proforma, ensuring strategies support the mission and vision of HHC. Responsible for gaining alignment with all key stakeholders (Regions, Institutes, HHC Medical Group, Finance, Contract Management, Regulatory, etc.) and for presenting at HHC’s Strategic Initiatives Committee, a weekly standing meeting with key HHC executive leadership * Provides counsel, support and guidance to senior and executive leaders and physician leadership through data analysis/expertise, market trends and key insights. Expected to provide strategic guidance for business unit(s), and responsible for explaining strategic planning process and for cascading HHC’s global strategic vision and direction. Sits on both Cabinet and ELT and is an integral participant providing feedback, advice and opportunities to enhance business unit’s strategy and overall performance * Oversees monthly dashboard reporting, weekly access calls with regions/institutes and growth pipelines for key recruitments and initiatives * Strategic advisor in determining the near and long-term strategic planning for the Fairfield Region through collaboration with the Regional President. Additionally, responsible for determining current and future bed needs and development of master facility plans for the region * Research and remain up to date on significant industry trends, regulatory changes, local & national market activities, new technologies and services, consumer needs and access challenges. Proactively decipher these trends and determine potential impact(s), countermeasures, and potential strategies and opportunities * Support work of clinical care redesign (CCR), management action plans (MAP) and revenue cycle to identify projects to reduce costs, optimize OR and robotic time, reduce denials and rework and enhance access in provider offices * Responsible for the Integrated Strategic Operational and Financial Reviews (ISOF), a bi-annual strategy session and KPI review with HHC’s CEO Cabinet and working with key Fairfield Region operational and physician leadership to prepare them. Additionally, has oversight of follow-up items and ensures measurable progress has been made * Develops and is responsible for Business Unit Review (BUR) presentations, a quarterly/bi-monthly KPI review with HHC’s Chief Operating Officers and other key leadership. Responsible for keeping meeting on track, speaking to data and tracking follow-up items and ensuring measurable progress has been made * Develops and is responsible for producing and overseeing the annual 3-year statewide provider access budget as it pertains to the Fairfield Region and gaining alignment with key stakeholders. Additionally, responsible for the provider needs assessment for the Fairfield Region which is completed every 3 years * Works closely with marketing and oversees the business development teams to advance the vision of the Fairfield Region to HHC and the communities. This includes accuracy of information on appropriate websites, supporting marketing campaigns, key messaging and developing opportunities and awareness for new markets * Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, healthcare administration, business administration or another related field * Three plus years of demonstrated experience supporting strategic planning or business development that supported an enterprise-wide strategic planning process. * Demonstrated experience working in partnership with senior and executive leadership in a matrixed organization, specifically in financial, planning, marketing/communications, quality & safety, IT, Decision Support and nursing * Proven effectiveness in developing and implementing business and strategic plans with measurable results that have enhanced an organizations overall awareness, perception, image and share * Experience identifying opportunities to enhance service offerings or underserved communities and develop market assessments and business plans with a goal of addressing the needs * Strong understanding of data, analytics and analysis with an ability to glean key insights that are actionable and meaningful * Ability to demonstrate how to sort through large data sets and appropriately display key findings * Exceptional analytical skills and data interpretation with ability to draw clear conclusions from datasets * Strong presentation, written communication and oral speaking skills We take great care of careers.
