Positions are available across the state, but keep in mind that availability will depend on the specific operational requirements, which means there may not be openings in every county. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Government Student Intern, you will have the opportunity to acquire significant "paraprofessional" experience in various fields, including accounting, fine arts, humanities, journalism, public administration, and social sciences. This internship will not only enhance your practical skills but also provide you with insights into the workings of government and public service, allowing you to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios. Internship opportunities associated with this posting will be for Engineering District 11 which consists of Lawrence, Beaver and Allegheny Counties.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time internship that will run from 5/1/2025 through 8/29/2025 Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. QUALIFICATIONS Students who are interested in a PennDOT internship must meet all of the following requirements: Must be a high school graduate or college student enrolled (or intending to enroll) on a full-time or part-time basis in a 2- or 4- year post-secondary education program for the fall semester. Acceptable Majors: Safety Science Occupational Safety and Environmental Health Safety Management Must be in good academic standing (as defined by a GPA of 2.0 or higher) Must be at least 18 years of age. Condition of Employment: Upon verification of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License without incident, some positions may be authorized to operate Department vehicles as part of this job.

Additional Requirements: You must be able to perform essential job functions.
