Job Description: Come join our collaborative work environment as a Senior Specialist, PCB Designer! This role provides Printed Circuit Board Design and general Mechanical Design support on customer-funded programs and internal research efforts within our Telemetry & RF Products Division of the Space and Airborne Systems Sector of L3 Harris Technologies!
Essential Functions:
Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design of hi-speed, hi-density, controlled impedance, multi-layer boards that incorporate microcontrollers, BGA’s, and mixed analog and digital circuits:
Place and route components ensuring all electrical and physical specifications meet the specific design requirements for each PCB design
Ensure all requirements for manufacturing and assembly are met
Develop and generate drawings and documentation to facilitate PCB fabrication and assembly
Update PCB designs when engineering design changes are required and assist the design team with ideas to help resolve issues
Perform drawing and documentation updates per the instructions of engineering change requests
Create component ECAD library footprints and/or schematic symbols as required for design projects
Performing drawing and documentation updates per the instructions of engineering change requests
Library Functions: creating / checking / controlling PCB decals and part types
Review and evaluate designs executed by others to satisfy product/project requirements
Work with PCB fabricators to resolve Technical Queries
Keeping up to date on latest PCB material, layer construction, manufacturing guidelines, and implementing into design as applicable
Create Engineering piece part and assembly drawings. Verify that dimensions are proper with reasonable tolerances that are consistent with normal manufacturing practices.
Create and incorporate Engineering Change Orders.
Work with ERP system to generate part and bills of material (BOMs)
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
Experience in Computer Aided Design (CAD)
Experience with PCB design, fabrication, and assembly
Drafting/design experience in a development and production environment
Preferred Additional Skills:
A current Secret security clearance desired
CID or CID+ Certification Preferred
Experience with Mentor Graphics Pads-PCB / Xpedition tool suite
Experience with Cadence Allegro/Orcad
Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD
Understanding of board fabrication/assembly DFM and DFT requirements
Knowledge of applicable government and industry standards including ASME Y14.5 (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and ASME Y14.100 (Engineering Drawing Practices), and its application techniques
Knowledge of IPC Specifications
Understanding of Configuration Management practices and Engineering Change Notices
Manufacturing Methods and Procedures
