Description

Comunilife Inc. is looking for aBenefits andEntitlement Specialist for its Bronx Residence. The La Central Benefit Entitlement Specialist is responsible for ensuring clients have and maintain entitlements Benefits that may be needed include: Public Assistance, Medicaid, Food Stamps, Social Security Supplement Income/ Disability Insurance, Veteran’s Benefits and related support. This position is eligible for Comunilife's generous benefits and paid time off package and it is salaried up to $55,000 a year. The program sites are located in the Bronx and Brooklyn boroughs. Travel within those locations will be required.

Essential functions

• Conduct needs assessments

• Schedule appointments

• Assist clients in acquiring and locating necessary documentation

• Accompany clients on appointments, providing advocacy and referrals, and assisting clients through the application process

• Work collaboratively in an inter-disciplinary team to ensure comprehensive, client-centered services are delivered and documented

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirement(s):

• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Education or a related area

• Two (2) years’ work experience in benefits and entitlements with extensive knowledge of community resources

• Experience with HIV/AIDS afflicted individuals, chronic mental illness, substance abuse individuals and their families a plus

• Bilingual skills in English/Spanish a plus
