Overview

The Mechanic, V provides service to refrigeration and air condition equipment in multiple buildings throughout the campus in support of research.

Responsibilities

• With minimal supervision, service and repair all equipment related to refrigeration, air conditioning and heating;
• Assist higher grades in the repair and installation of air conditioners and refrigeration equipment;
• Solder and braze refrigerant piping;
• Cut, bend, thread and connect piping to a functional refrigeration system;
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, E.P.A. Universal Certificate and 3 years of experience in the refrigeration and air-condition field is required.
• Must possess the strength and dexterity needed to perform the job and the physical ability to move equipment as necessary;
• Must adhere to operational safety rules and regulations as deemed by the College;
• Must be able to follow directives and possess good communication skills and ability to interact with building/office occupants effectively;
• Must possess a working knowledge of the electrical, plumbing, masonry, sheet metal, carpentry and painting trades;
• Must be able to use refrigerant recovery system;
• Must be able to use multi-set refrigeration gauges;
• Must be able to use multi-meters to check electric;
• Must wear personal protective equipment;
• Must supply own tools;
• Must be able to communicate with co-workers and foreman;

Hiring Rate:$30.67

Post Probationary Rate:$31.20
