Student Life Manager

POSITION DETAILS

Reporting to theDirector of Counseling and Resources for Emergency Support (CARES), the Student Life Manager for the CARES Access Resource Center (ARC) will be responsible for implementing policies and procedures that reflect the broader mission of the Division of Student Success. The Manager will have primary responsibility for the general administration of CARES ARC and support the clinical needs of students through the CARES Office of Personal Counseling (OPC). S/he will oversee the day-to-day operation of CARES ARC services.

The Student Life Manager for CARES ARC is responsible for overseeing the outreach to potential clients, benefits screening, counseling clients through the application process, and referring clients to external service providers for legal and financial counseling. The Manager is expected to:

· Manage the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of student programs and quality of life issues, promoting the personal development of a diverse student population.

· Evaluate student needs and trends to develop a range of student services

· Develop and administer specific programs and general activities in support of student needs

· Represent the College in campus-wide and university-wide groups and councils focusing on priority student issues

· Train, supervise and evaluate CARES ARC full-time and part-time staff.

· Develop qualitative and quantitative assessment protocols to measure program impact and quality of service. Manage the referral process to partnering agencies.

· Ensure that follow-up with both clients and partnering agencies occurs regarding referrals and outcomes and ensure appropriate documentation of all program data and services

· Manage the operation of the Bronco Food Pantry.

· Create innovative outreach activities with campus student organizations serving students to ensure benefits access.

· Develops relationships with college departments and outside community organizations to understand student needs and available development opportunities.

· Deepen relationships between CARES, Bronx Community College and appropriate CBO partners.

· Contribute to development and implementation of programs and services for increased student success.

· Prepare reports and assume other related duties as assigned by the Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Master's Degree In Social Work or related field

· License in Social Work (master or clinical)

· Experience working with large, underserved populations

· Experience providing psychological counseling to individuals and groups

· Experience with diverse populations and competence in multicultural issues and their relation to counseling and supporting undergraduate students

· Knowledge and experience with time-limited, solution focused and strengths-based case management

· Experience with and openness to therapeutic case management

· Experience dealing with issues related to academic success and completion

· Competence in crisis intervention, suicide prevention, assessment of need for hospitalization, handling emergencies and hospitalizations

· Ability to work well both independently and collaboratively in a diverse and rapid-paced academic environment.

· Excellent interpersonal skills

· Knowledge of Windows based programs and other computer programs. The ability to communicate in writing is an important job-related competency. All candidates will draft a writing sample as part of the interview process to demonstrate their ability to write progress notes, memos and letters that are grammatically correct and express information clearly.

This position is required to work one evening a week during late hours and early morning hours during pantry distribution and delivery days.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary commensurate with education and experience: $90,375.00 - $96.602.00
