About the Role:
Callen-Lorde is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Nursing to lead the nursing operations at our Brooklyn location. The Director of Nursing will oversee clinical and operational nursing services, ensuring high-quality, inclusive, and comprehensive patient care. This leadership role is central to promoting wellness and preventive health, driving quality improvements, and fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the nursing team.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact by leading a dedicated team in delivering compassionate and innovative care to a diverse patient population, including LGBTQ+ individuals and those living with HIV.
Key Responsibilities:
As the Director of Nursing, your responsibilities will include:
Nursing Team Leadership: Oversee recruitment, training, supervision, and performance evaluation for the nursing team, including RNs, LPNs, MAs, Pharmacy Technicians, and other nursing staff. Foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment.
Patient Care Oversight: Ensure the delivery of high-quality, sensitive nursing care, including triage, health education, medication administration, and laboratory services
Quality Improvement and Efficiency: Lead clinical quality improvement initiatives in collaboration with the Quality Management team. Continuously evaluate and optimize clinic workflows for maximum efficiency and productivity.
Staff Development: Conduct performance reviews for nursing administration staff. Serve as a role model for professional competence and ethical standards.
Administrative Duties: Oversee scheduling, inventory management, and purchasing of medical supplies, vaccines, and medications. Maintain quality control for laboratory services and CLIA-waived testing.
Infection Control and Safety: Obtain and oversee Infection Control certification for the Brooklyn site
Interdepartmental Collaboration: Partner with other departments to implement new programs, workflows, and interdisciplinary care models
Education and Training: Collaborate with the Research Department to develop health education materials and training curricula. Identify or create patient educational resources to enhance health literacy.
Strategic Leadership: Actively contribute to Callen-Lorde’s mission to build an anti-racist organization by leading within a diversity, equity, and inclusion framework.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position with evening hours.

Qualifications
Education, Experience
Current and valid New York State Registered Nurse License.
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
Five plus years of supervisory/leadership experience
Three years’ experience in an outpatient clinical setting preferred.
Familiarity with infection control, DOH and OSHA regulations
Experience serving Callen-Lorde’s target populations preferred.
Experience managing diverse teams of medical professionals preferred.
Current BCLS certification.
Strong computer competency.
