Job Description

Scope

The SCADA Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of SCADA systems. This role involves working with hardware and software to ensure the smooth operation of automated control systems. The SCADA Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize processes and implement new technologies to enhance system performance.

Duties & Responsibilities

System Design and Development

  • Design, configure, and maintain SCADA systems.

  • Develop and implement SCADA software applications and interfaces.

  • Integrate SCADA systems with PLCs, RTUs, and other control devices.

Installation and Commissioning

  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of SCADA systems and related hardware.

  • Conduct system testing and validation to ensure proper functionality.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting

  • Perform routine maintenance and updates on SCADA systems.

  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to SCADA hardware and software.

  • Ensure system reliability and uptime by monitoring system performance and implementing improvements.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including system specifications, user manuals, and operation procedures.

  • Generate and analyze system performance reports and data logs.

Collaboration and Support

  • Work closely with other engineers, technicians, and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and operation of SCADA systems.

  • Provide technical support and training to end-users and staff.

Compliance and Standards

  • Ensure SCADA systems comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Implement best practices for cybersecurity and data protection in SCADA systems.

Requirements

  • Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.

  • Experience:

  • Proven experience as a SCADA Engineer or in a similar role.

  • Hands-on experience with SCADA systems (e.g., Wonderware, GE iFIX, Siemens WinCC, etc.).

  • Experience with PLC programming and integration.

  • Skills:

  • Strong understanding of SCADA systems, industrial automation, and control systems.

  • Proficiency in programming languages used in SCADA systems (e.g., C#, VB, SQL).

  • Knowledge of networking protocols and communication standards (e.g., Modbus, OPC, TCP/IP).

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Certifications:

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified SCADA Security Architect (CSSA), ISA/IEC 62443 Cybersecurity Certificate) are a plus.

Additional Information

  • Ability to travel to various sites for system installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
