The pay range is $111,200.00 - $200,200.00

As a lead engineer, you serve as the technical anchor for the engineering team that supports a product. You create, own and are responsible for the application architecture that best serves the product in its functional and non-functional needs. You identify and drive architectural changes to accelerate feature development or improve the quality of service (or both). You have deep and broad engineering skills and are capable of standing up an architecture in its whole on your own, but you choose to influence a wider team by acting as a “force multiplier”. About this Team:

As a Stores Mobile Android Engineer, you will work on our exciting Stores Mobile app called "myDay." The myDay app is used by all team members in stores to receive, create, execute, and inform about tasks related to practically all activities in the stores. This includes all the easy to see things, like knowing when to restock shelves, ordering groceries, changing prices, and moving things around when displays change. It also includes everything from inventory control, notifications, managing expiring items, and even to logging when cleaning and other events happen. We do this all on a native Android application, leveraging numerous Enterprise systems and APIs to provide rich data through a consistent and user-first designed interface.

As a Lead Engineer on the Stores Mobile UI team you will:

Help define and drive the engineering culture and project direction of our myDay app and team. You will have input on, and participate in the ownership of, the software development lifecycle, and partner with our data and infrastructure peers to ensure a comprehensive and robust environment for the success of our application. You will help in the development and growth of the other engineers on the team, striving for high levels of code quality, integrity, and reliability. As a member of the team's leadership group, you will have influence over one of the most crucial applications developed at Target for our team members.

About you:

• 4 year degree or equivalent experience

• 7+ years of software development experience with at least one full cycle implementation

• 4+ years of experience developing apps for Android

• Experience developing in Kotlin

• Demonstrates strong domain-specific knowledge regarding Target’s technology capabilities, and key competitors’ products and differentiating features

• Demonstrates broad and deep expertise in multiple computer languages and frameworks (e.g., open source). Designs, develops, and approves end-to-end functionality of a product line, platform, or infrastructure

• Communicates and coordinates with project team, partners, and stakeholders

• Demonstrates expertise in analysis and optimization of systems capacity, performance, and operational health

• Understands and develops solutions to foster data lifecycle management

• Maintains deep technical knowledge within areas of expertise

• Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education

• Experience in building highly scalable distributed systems

• Demonstrates ability to lead projects, mentor teammates, and drive technical and project directions.

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ location this role assigned to (Brooklyn Park, MN or Salt Lake City, UT), and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
