DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Casework is comprised of two distinct roles: investigating allegations of abuse and neglect and providing ongoing support for children and families.  Within this role, each day will present different challenges which may include investigating allegations of abuse or neglect, working with school partners to remedy truancy, collaborating with mental health providers to serve the needs of children and families, or testifying in court in an effort to protect children from suspected abuse or neglect.

You will be responsible for monitoring referrals, overseeing a group of caseworkers, assigning initial requests for services, and providing training for new staff members.  Compassionate and comprehensive interpersonal skills are vital, as this supervisory work requires frequent face to face contact with children and families.  This position also affords the opportunity to assist with developing a variety of mental health services and programs.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Each year of employment counts towards Public Student Loan Forgiveness (PSLF). Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of professional experience in public or private social work and a bachelor's degree with major course work in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or Any equivalent combination of experience and education which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.

Legal Requirements: You must pass a background investigation. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
