Vail Resorts Analyst, Capital Project and Asset Management Accounting in Broomfield, Colorado

Job Summary:

The Analyst, Capital Project and Asset Management Accounting will be an integral part of analysis and accounting of capital project transactions and the related fixed assets; frequent collaboration with project managers at each resort; preparation and review of journal entries; balance sheet account reconciliations including any additional quarterly and year end reporting; ownership of policies and procedures related to capital project and capital assets accounting. Compliance with SOX requirements, and additional ad-hoc analysis, as required.

The Capital Project and Asset Management Accounting group resides within the Financial Reporting group at Vail Resorts, this role blends accounting and financial analysis. The ideal candidate is an organized and detail-oriented self-starter who is focused on both personal leadership development and team mentorship, and who excels at identifying opportunities and proposing solutions, identifying process improvements and seeing them through to completion in a deadline-oriented team environment.

Job Specifications:

  • The budgeted range starts at $55,000 - $68,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience

  • Shift & Schedule Availability: Full Time, Year Round

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations and variance analyses;

  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders on financial reporting of capital assets and other special projects;

  • Record, review and post monthly journal entries;

  • Compliance with SOX requirements;

  • Interface with internal and external auditors to maintain and provide supporting schedules and selected documentation for one-off, quarterly and calendar year audits;

  • Develop and maintain SOPs for processes that involve multiple systems and groups;

  • Interface with Financial Reporting group, General Ledger Accounting and other groups regarding various ventures relative to capital asset information and special projects.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (or demonstrated experience in lieu of education);

  • 2+ years’ experience in an Accounting or Finance position;

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; intermediate to advanced excel skills;

  • Attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment;

  • Ability to effectively work both independently and in a team environment, including remote work with geographically dispersed team members;

  • Ability to quickly become Subject Matter Expert on Corporate Financial Systems (Planful, nVision, Blackline and PeopleSoft Financial);

  • Self-starter with a drive for excellence and a proven ability to work and provide solutions in a dynamic and fast paced environment;

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, & customer service skills.

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $55,000 - $68,000. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

Vail Resorts offers a ‘Hybrid’ work environment for Broomfield-based roles where employees must live within 50 miles of the Broomfield office and work on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and have flexibility to work off-site on Mondays and Fridays.
