Job Assignment: FACILITIES OPERATIONS ASSISTANT Job Number: 17-0203 Department: 17-Community Facilities Pay: $2,723 per month / $15.71 per hour Immediate Supervisor: Community Event Facilities General Manager

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This non-supervisory full-time position is responsible for event setup/tear down including AV assistance for various groups. Additionally, Facilities Operations Assistant will perform routine cleaning and custodial work in the Community Facilities Department and surrounding parking area. Must be willing to adopt and exhibit the City of Brownwood I SERVE Core Values.

EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC WORK PERFORMED:

  • Sets up equipment, furnishings or fixtures for banquets, dances, concerts, and all other activities; dismantles and cleans up after events.
  • Assists in setting up all requested media for events, sound system, lighting system, etc.
  • Keep all audio/visual equipment including Community Facility laptops updated and current.
  • Sweeps, mops, strips, waxes and buffs floors and vacuums carpets.
  • Collects trash and disposes of waste.
  • Cleans restrooms and replenishes toilet supplies.
  • Washes windows.
  • Operates mechanical floor machine, buffers and other custodial equipment.
  • Assist in general maintenance of building, such as painting, etc.
  • Dust office furniture, equipment and other fixtures.
  • Maintain outside walks, driveways, parking lots and grounds.
  • Maintains and organizes all event equipment.
  • Utilizes Community Facilities Software to communicate event details and operations.
  • Assist with answering phone calls and handling walk-in traffic.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

POSITIONS SUPERVISED: None.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to sit, stand and drive a vehicle to and from various locations.
  • Employee will be exposed to seasonal temperatures while performing maintenance duties and be exposed to mechanical and chemical hazards.
  • Ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds frequently and 50-100 pounds often.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, walk, push brooms and sweep.
  • Ability to walk over sloped and uneven terrain.
  • Work involves getting dirty. Employee will be exposed to dirt, dust, noises, fumes and odors.
  • Ability to communicate in writing and verbally with the public.
  • Ability to understand verbal and written communication.
  • Physical demand for the job are heavy.
  • Exposure to dangerous machinery, electrical lines and various heights.
  • Ability to work at heights of 50 feet to 60 feet.
  • Required to work overtime, night shifts, weekend on-call, and holidays.
