Position Summary

Bowdoin College’s Department of Biology and Program in Biochemistry invite applications for a full-time, benefits-eligible lecturer-track faculty appointment at the rank of Lecturer beginning July 1, 2025. Initial appointment to this ongoing teaching position is for three years, with recurring multi-year appointments and the possibility of eventual promotion to senior lecturer contingent on successful review and reappointment. The position subfield is open. The teaching load is four courses per year. Courses will include a rotation of intermediate-level offerings in cell biology, biochemistry, genetics and molecular biology, microbiology, and developmental biology, with weekly lab sections co-instructed by professional laboratory instructors. The successful candidate also will teach an annual non-lab biochemistry course, contribute to introductory-level instruction in Biology, and offer advanced courses in their area of specialization where opportunity and demand allow. A PhD in Biochemistry, Biology, or a related field is expected by date of appointment. Prior experience leading undergraduate course instruction is strongly preferred.
