Position Summary
The Middle Eastern and North African Studies Program and the Department of Religion at Bowdoin College invite applications for a full-time, benefits-eligible visiting assistant professor position for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 academic years. The appointment begins July 1, 2025 and will be for two years. The teaching load is two courses per semester. The successful candidate is expected to teach courses on the religious traditions of the Middle East and on modern Middle Eastern and North African History. The subfield is open; we are especially interested in candidates specializing in the contemporary history and culture of the Middle East and Islam. A PhD in Middle Eastern Studies, Religion or a related field is expected by the date of appointment.
