City Of Brush Community Service Officer in Brush, Colorado

REQUIREMENTS:

Job Requirements and Difficulty of Work: Age: Minimum of 18 years. License: Must possess a valid Colorado driver's license, or be able to obtain one at time of appointment. Physical: Height and weight must be proportional Must have normal color vision. Pull or drag an animal offering resistance, or a dead animal. Lift large domestic animals. Climb over barriers such as fences or walls to retrieve animals. Run after at-large animals. Climb stairs, and embankments. Work outdoors in high temperatures (above 95 degrees) or in low temperatures (below 30 degrees). Work in high wind conditions, snow, or ice. Work with allergenic substances such as animal dander. Work with noxious substances such as disinfectants, animal urine or feces. The employee shall work well under pressure, meet multiple and sometimes competing deadlines. The employee shall at all times demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors. Physical Requirements and Work Environment: This position's physical demand requirements place the position in the Heavy category according to the U.S. Department of Labor's Dictionary of Occupational Titles, Volume II, Fourth Edition, Revised 1991. Occasional (1%-33%) Frequent (34%-66%) Constant (67%-100%) Requires standing, walking, climbing, squatting, stooping, kneeling, carrying and overhead reaching occasionally. Requires sitting frequently. Requires angular reaching, wrist flexion/extension, elbow flexion/extension, supination/pronation (wrist/elbow rotation) and grasping constantly. Ability to carry with one hand objects such as animal spray, animal pole, snake tongs and wire gloves occasionally. Ability to carry with two hands 50 pounds up to 25 ft. occasionally. Ability to lift 75 pounds from floor to waist level occasionally. Exposure to forceful exertions and postural stresses. Worksite conditions include: noise, temperature changes, extreme temperatures, wet/humid conditions, confined areas, fumes/dust/dirt and accessing elevated heights. Ability to access elevated heights. Exposed to sharp tools and slippery flooring occasionally. Must be able to perform with sustained attention, feeling sensation and balance. Education and Experience: At least a High School Diploma or equivalent. The ability to read, write and comprehend material of a technical nature relevant to modern police techniques. College training in criminal justice classes is desirable.

WAGE: Range $19.60-$26.52 Starting Wage $19.60/hr

DAYS/HRS: Full Time Permanent

DESCRIPTION:

General Statement of Duties: Under general supervision, the Community Services Officer (CSO) performs a wide variety of field and office duties for the Police Department. Although Community Services Officers are required to wear a distinctive uniform and are assigned field duties, they are not peace officers and do not carry weapons. The CSO is an entry-level position into the law enforcement profession. Incumbents may desire to remain in the CSO program as a para-professional career or may utilize the experience and training gained in the program to prepare themselves for a career as a regular Police Officer.
