Job Title: WIC Eligibility Specialist I Job Description: The position of WIC Eligibility Specialist is responsible for determining performing WIC certification procedures by obtaining client information and income eligibility per state and local policy. Clerical duties include but are not limited to maintaining electronic files in TXIN, answering phones, greeting clients, scheduling appointments, data entry and loading benefits. Will assist the Clinical Supervisor, Outreach/NE Coordinator, Special Projects Coordinators and admin staff when needed. Essential Functions: 1. Income and residency screening for participants. 2. Perform anthropometric measures and finger sticks. 3. Data entry and EBT benefit issuance. 4. Teach classes as needed. 5. Answer phones and schedule appointments. 6. Conduct outreach when needed or assigned. 7. Greet clients and obtain information for appointments. 8. Maintain and update client records in TXIN. 9. Conduct and document participant flow information for quality improvement. 10. Maintain workplace values and standards. 11. Check email, memos and complete timesheets daily. 12. Contribute to a positive work environment and other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements: High school diploma or GED. Supervision Received: All paperwork turned into the Clinic Supervisor and reviews may additionally be made by the Clinical Supervisor and QA Coordinator.

Immunizations recommended in accordance with CDC guidelines: 1. MMR (2 doses or evidence of immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella); 2. Varicella (2 doses, reliable history/medical documentation of disease, or evidence of immunity to chickenpox); 3. Influenza (1 dose annually); 4. Td (complete series with one booster dose every 10 yrs); 5. Hepatitis B (Documentation of 3 doses. Un-immunized new employees shall complete a 3-dose series and post-vaccination blood test showing immunity. If test result is negative, up to 3 additional doses of vaccine may be required.)

The following tests are recommended: 1. Mantoux Tuberculin Skin Test- Purified Protein Derivative (PPD).

Annual testing recommended. 2. Any blood titer necessary to establish immunity to measles, mumps, rubella, varicella or hepatitis B. Aptitudes Required: Reasoning Development - must be able to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Language Development -must be at a level that would apply to a person capable of interpreting and understanding medical and technological journals.

Must be able to prepare business letters, expositions, summaries, and reports with proper format. Math Development - must be able to solve mathematical problems using techniques such as algebra, calculus, and statistics. Physical Requirements: Have frequent need (33% - 66% of time) for sitting, typing, writing, walking, and standing. Have occasional need (1 - 33% of time) for driving or operating equipment, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, or squatting. Have rare need (less than 1% of time) for reaching above shoulders, climbing stairs, climbing ladders, grasping, gripping, finger dexterity, eye/hand/foot coordination or lying down. Lifting/Carrying: Have occasional need (1% - 33% of time) to lift/carry 26 - 50 pounds. Have occasional need to lift/carry 10 - 25 pounds or lift/carry under 10 pounds. Have rare need (less than 1% of time) to lift/carry 51 or more pounds. Vision Requirements: Have constant need (66% - 100% of time) to be able to see detail. Have constant need to be able to see beyond arms length. Hearing Requirements: Have constant need (66% - 100% of time) to be able to hear other personnel to communicate effectively. Speaking Requirements: Have constant need (66% - 100% of time) to be able to communicate to other personnel effec ively. Environment - Working Conditions: Have constant need (66% - 100% of time) to work indoors. Have rare need (less than 1% of time) to work outdoors, in confined space, exposure to fumes, chemicals, solvents, extreme temperatures, etc. Work Schedule: Work days: Monday through Friday, some Saturdays Work hours: 40-hour work week using a flexible schedule requiring some late nights and Saturdays. Salary Range: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour, depending on qualifications. Open until filled.
