Crawford County Council on Aging STNA/State Tested Nurses Aide in Bucyrus, Ohio

**HOMEMAKER/PERSONAL CARE AIDE

**

*JOB SUMMARY: Provide in-home, community-based services to clients through the provision of personal hygiene assistance, household tasks, and/or related activities, while facilitating a client's effort to maintain independence in their home. Traveling to and from client's homes in the Crawford County, Ohio area. *

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must be a high school graduate, or have completed a GED, or have a minimum of 2 years experience in work related field.
  2. Must be listed on Ohio department of health's nurse aide registry.
  3. Must be neat in appearance and able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  4. Must be able to perform the duties of this job.
  5. Must possess good communications skills, both written and verbal, and good observation skills.
  6. Must have knowledge of general housekeeping procedures and possess good homemaking skills.
  7. Must be able to organize time and set priorities.
  8. Must be able to follow directions and work independently.
  9. Must be courteous, cooperative and even tempered toward clients and coworkers.
  10. Must be free of any disqualifying criminal offenses as determined by fingerprint check through the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation.
  11. Possess functional knowledge of the demographics of the service area and the ability to read street and road maps and find unfamiliar locations.
  12. Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test and random alcohol and drug testing.
  13. Must be able to enter client homes and other potentially handicap inaccessible buildings.
  14. Must possess a valid Ohio Driver's license, automobile insurance, and have access to reliable transportation to travel throughout Crawford County.

DUTIES:

  1. Homemaking tasks including but not limited to: dusting furniture; sweeping, vacuuming, and washing floors; kitchen care, including dishes, appliances, and counters; bathroom care; changing bed linens; washing windows; removing trash; and laundry, including washing, drying, folding, ironing, and putting clothes away.
  2. Personal hygiene assistance including but not limited to: bed bath, shower, or partial bath; shampoo in sink, tub, or bed; oral hygiene; toileting and elimination; transfer and ambulation; range of motion and positioning; and adequate nutrition and fluid intake.
  3. Meal preparation, grocery purchase, and errands for the purpose of picking up              prescriptions.
  4. Complete, neatly, accurately and timely, all required paperwork and documentation for each client.
  5. Apply principles of health and safety in relation to self and client.
  6. Observe changes in client status and report to supervisor.
  7. Other job related duties as required.
