Canisius University seeks a Director of Athletic Performance within the Department of Athletics. Canisius is a member of the Division I Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The Director of Athletic Performance ensures the Canisius Athletic Performance Program is administered with constant commitment to compliance with all institutional, conference and NCAA rules and regulations. This is a full-time, 12-month position which reports to the Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Medicine. This position will require work in evenings and weekends.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administration of the athletic performance programs for 20 varsity sports.
Work with head coaches to improve year-round athletic performance of all varsity student-athletes.
Supervise, educate, document and monitor student-athletes while using the facility and ensure they are utilizing proper lifting techniques to ensure maximum results in a safe environment.
Supervise and assist in the development of graduate assistants and interns.
Schedule and supervise the weight room and maintain all the weight room equipment.
Adhere to all rules and regulations of Canisius University, the MAAC and the NCAA.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicant must have the ability to work compatibly and cooperatively with the staff and personnel in the department of Athletics and other University departments.
Bachelor’s Degree is required (Master’s Degree preferred).
CSCS or SCCC and current CPR/AED/ First Aid certification is required.
Working knowledge of various training techniques.
Prior experience at the collegiate level is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits:
Salary: $55,000.00 to $57,000.00 annually
Please note that the compensation information is a good faith estimate of the base pay for this position. The selected candidate’s actual base pay will be based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors including experience. Information about the total compensation package for this position will be provided during the interview process.
This is a full-time, 12-month position. Benefits are available the first of the month after the full-time employee’s date of hire and include – health, dental and vision insurance, life and long-term disability insurance, and retirement plan enrollment is available to full-time employees with contribution from University after one year. Paid holidays, vacation, personal leave and sick leave. Tuition benefits are also available for full-time employees and their qualified dependents.
