Job Description:
The Pharmacist Applications Analyst bridges the understanding between practice, process, and technology of pharmacy workflows and Healthcare EMR. The Pharmacist Applications Analyst utilizes analytical skills to identify educational opportunities for improvement, problem resolution, and evaluates improvement of procedures and techniques as they related to workflow of the EMR.
Responsibilities:
Monitors drug therapy for duplicates, contraindications, interactions, incompatibilities, allergies, and dosing errors. Documents interventions as needed.
Serves as liaison between information systems and Pharmacy department in matters pertaining to the ongoing, efficient operation of the pharmacy software that resides in the Information Systems Department.
Understands the business and clinical processes used by the department and their interaction with other institutional processes and systems.
Acts as a drug information resource for Information Technology department personnel.
Responsible for the maintenance and support of pharmacy systems, including Cerner PharmNet and associated functions integrating with the Cerner EMR.
Maintain and support the Cerner PharmNet application on and off normal scheduled shifts (troubleshooting, updates, fixes and project support, on-call).
Responsible for maintenance and support including but not limited to pharmacy orderables/formulary, NDC stacking, medication reconciliation, ePrescribe, Multum uploads, and SureScripts to name a few.
Configures applications and related interfaces including but not limited to Pyxis, Swisslog, and DoseEdge.
Provide Level II and Level III support to the Cerner system as needed.
Documenting detailed description of user needs, program functions and steps required to develop or modify computer programs.
Documents all build activities in conjunction with updating vendor provided applications specifications and perform integration and unit testing.
Establish and maintain relationships at the appropriate level between HTC and client in order to provide appropriate status of tickets, escalation of issues, solution benefits, etc.
Formulates solutions using effective communication skills with providers, department managers, units, and other related personnel and outside vendors.
Experience performing all phases of the System Development Life Cycle including implementation, integration and regression testing, user acceptance, deployment, maintenance and support of Cerner Millennium.
Adhere to version control processes.
In participation with the Information Services Team members, assures that all activities (end user training, ongoing education, workflow refinement and support) are accomplished successfully within specified time frames to support system modifications, Interoperability and other quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Drives clinical transformation by providing EMR users with education regarding the integration of technology (products) and clinical activities (processes) to achieve desired quality and operational outcomes.
Performs all other duties as assigned by management within job scope.
Requirements:
Experience with Cerner PharmNet maintenance and support experience required.
Cerner PharmNet design, build and implementation experience preferred.
Experience with other pharmacy applications such as SwissLog, DoseEdge, and Pyxis preferred.
Knowledge of Pharmacy workflows and processes.
Demonstrated progressively responsible assignments in system analysis functions.
Excellent client, vendor, project team, and employee relationship skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience with business process analysis and design, including identification and implementation of “best practices,” where applicable and practical within the project time lines.
Must be able to support client in Eastern time zone.
Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Pharmacy is required.
1 year of experience in Hospital Pharmacy or Pharmacy Practice Residency is preferred.
