Technical Training Specialist (FT/Hybrid)

Buffalo, NY *Be part of an exciting journey as we build our new facility in the Western New York Science & Technology Advanced Manufacturing Parkin Alabama, NY! This role offers a unique hybrid opportunity, blending remote work flexibility with on-site presence during the facility's construction phase.

Salary Range:$65,000 - 95,000 annual base pay, plus Annual Variable Compensation Bonus

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on several factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location.

The Technical Training Specialist will deliver functional and product technical training primarily to PC Genesee employees. The position will be responsible for the professional delivery of pre or newly-developed course materials, delivery and supervision of task-based, practical training, and the assessment of learner knowledge, skills, and behaviors in the classroom and the workplace.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop comprehensive technical training programs, courses, and materials that align with the organization's objectives, industry standards, and local requirements in partnership with the Product Company and Semi Training & Development.
  • Develop and maintain training documentation, including user guides, manuals, and other resources.
  • Translate SOPs into usable training documentation.
  • Deliver instructor-led training courses to employees (new starters in assembly/machining, early careers, and any staff who have a technical development need) using pre or newly-developed course materials to support functional and product competency requirements.
  • Demonstrate correct and safe conduct of maintenance activities associated with each piece of equipment using appropriate Technical Manuals and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Oversee all trainee activity to ensure a safe learning environment is maintained at all times; reset systems and equipment back to an agreed baseline training state in preparation for the next course.
  • Conduct evaluation of training under industry best practices using processes and procedures implemented and operated by Semi Training & Development.
  • Supervise written examinations and conduct competency assessments as appropriate to the course being instructed.
  • Conduct SOP competency assessments in the classroom and at the learner's place of work to enable Task Book completion and sign-off.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance learning solutions ensuring ongoing continuous improvement in quality and efficiency.
  • Work with HRM to embed any group/VTBAlearning to factory floor workers

  • Maintains punctual, regular, and predictable attendance; works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
  • Respectfully takes direction from (supervisor/ manager) and other duties as assigned.

Technical Expertise:

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements to continuously update and enhance training materials.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in assigned technical areas, providing insights and guidance to learners.
  • Conduct workplace observational checks to monitor the progress and task-based behaviors of employees following the completion of training. Train Managers and Team Leads to ensure they are suitably competent to complete the same Observational Checklists.
  • Utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) to obtain class attendance lists and update attendee records.
  • Act as a stakeholder in the new course development process (where relevant to the subject matter). This may include providing SME input to the Training Design & Development team and assisting with reviews of draft content

Skills & Experience:

  • Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
  • 3-5 years experience working as a Technical Trainer in a manufacturing, engineering or in Field Service environment - Required
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal); Korean language skills are a benefit. - Required
  • Formal engineering/technical qualification - Required
  • Recognized Learning & Development or instructional qualification - Preferred
  • Working knowledge of the use of The Kirkpatrick 4-stage training evaluation model - Preferred
  • Passport and clearance to Travel Internationally, this role may require up to 25% travel both nationally and internationally- Required

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use stairways to climb floors within office building, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands and fingers to type or dial, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and reach with hands and arms.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. This position requires frequent computer use. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
