Futurex System Administrator in Bulverde, Texas

LOCATION: Bulverde, Texas

HOURS: Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30am-5:30pm, but availability to work nontraditional or weekend hours as needed is required.

Futurex is seeking a talented individual to maintain, upgrade and manage our software, hardware and networks. In this role, your goal will be to ensure that our technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently.

This position is on-site at Futurex’s Engineering Campus in Bulverde, 15 miles north of San Antonio, Texas.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and administer corporate infrastructure, deploy equipment, and troubleshoot end-user systems and equipment

  • Deploy and configure web applications on hypervisors and cloud solutions for internal use

  • Provision desktops, laptops, and phones for employees and troubleshoot end-user issues

  • Create users and policies within a directory environment for authentication and access

  • Rack and stack network and server equipment

  • Troubleshoot basic network connectivity issues, and assist in VPN deployment

  • Build and maintain equipment list of Futurex inventory

  • Develop automation of tasks via scripting or tools

  • Design out and implement service infrastructure with taking into consideration availability, scalability, and security with relation to SLA requirements

  • Identify processes and capabilities that can be streamlined and automated

  • Communicate effectively to help bridge stakeholder and development requirements

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Resourcefulness, including the ability to diagnose and resolve issues quickly

  • Ability to communicate with a variety of interdisciplinary teams and users

  • At least 1 year of IT experience in troubleshooting workstations, servers, or web applications.

  • At least 2 years of IT experience with Linux Server or Windows Server operating systems.

  • Familiar with client/server architecture

  • Familiar with network architecture and basic networking concepts.

  • Familiar with cloud hosting environments, VDI, and virtualization technology.

  • Experience troubleshooting end-user devices, servers, or networking equipment

STRONGLY PREFERRED

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • CompTIA Server+, Network+, Linux+, AWS Certified Solutions Architect

  • Experience managing Hyper-V, VMware, or Xen server clusters

  • Experience managing docker or Kubernetes environments

  • Experience scripting using python or Windows PowerShell

  • Expertise in configuring and deploying applications on Linux servers using Apache or Nginx

  • Experience with AD user administration and GPO creation and assignment
