Senior Operations LLC Welder B in Burbank, California
SUMMARY: Requires precision welding of company and customer products in compliance with rigid customer and engineering specifications and requirements using GTAW process. Characteristic of this classification is welding product parts and assemblies (normally in areas of easy access on flat or horizontal surfaces) in accordance with customer specifications and requirements, using gas, inert gas arc. At least one of the following alloy groups in accordance with AWS D17.1 and QOP-62-02, in Groups I, II, III, IV, and VI.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes the following and all other duties as may be assigned. Individuals must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Determine, from the nature of the assignment, blueprints, welding manuals, and shop practice, the correct welding rod to use, flux to apply, appropriate method to use and relationship of parts. Perform certified seam flange, edge, butt, fillet and lap-fusion welding on various types of materials which are the same or nearly the same thickness at point of weld.
- Weld fittings on tubing, ducts, tanks and other similar units.
- Weld tanks, vessels, tubing, brackets, boxes, shelves and other assemblies which are subjected to high stress or pressures.
- Be familiar with ship practice and assembly procedures to determine whether parts are fitted properly and meet specifications prior to welding.
- Have fair knowledge of weld symbols and weld specs.
- Performs rework, repair and other associated operations in connection with the work described herein when such requirements are characteristic of the classification.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or General Education Degree; or 1-2 years of related experience and/ or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to read blueprints.
MANUFACTURING STANDARDS: Operator must obtain and maintain-
- SSP Welding Certificate
- S Stamp
- Maintain minimum output of 85%
- Maintain minimum product quality acceptance of 90%
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and ercent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must fulfill welding requirements of lower job classification. Possess basic knowledge of metallurgy and metallography. Must be able to recognize improper functioning of machines and unacceptable welds. Recognizes material that has not been properly cleaned or etched.
