Sutter Health Pathology Assistant II in Burlingame, California

Position Overview:

Maintenance and upkeep of the grossing room, frozen section areas, morgue and storage areas. Prepare Non-gyn cytology specimens (cytospins, cell blocks and smears). Staining of cytology slides and stocking of supplies in grossing area. Preparation of reagents and disposing of specimens. Assisting pathologists with autopsies as needed. Labeling cassettes and bringing specimens to the grossing area from surgery. Enter specimens and patient data into the computer as needed. Work may be done at Peninsula Medical Center, Mills Health Center, or both depending on the needs of the department.

Qualifications:

This position is for internals only and requires one-year experience as a Pathology Assistant I with demonstrable good performance in that position.

High school graduate or equivalent.

College courses in Chemistry and biological science highly desirable.

Computer knowledge desirable.

Hospital experience with special reference to morgue and pathology laboratory technical duties.
