Labcorp Technologist Trainee for Molecular Microbiology in Burlington, North Carolina

In this position you will work in a fast paced, customer focused, and challenging environment, and will be a part of our overall mission at LabCorp: " Improving Health, Improving Lives ".

This position is in our Molecular Microbiology department and will be working on PCR Testing. Assays performed in the Molecular Microbiology area include Qualitative and Quantitative PCR, with the overall goal of providing results that can be used for the diagnosis and management of a wide range of infections using real-time PCR detection of nucleic acid. This position supports the NuSwab testing group with testing of BV/CAN samples.

The schedule for this position will be: 2nd shift, Tuesday-Saturday, 3:00 pm - 11:30pm.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria

  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures

  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality

  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls

  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care

  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology or related.

  • No previous laboratory experience is required at the Tech Trainee level

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment

  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems are a plus

  • High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills

  • Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
