Position Summary:

Lead the quality team responsible for product validation, sample review and approval.Drive development of product quality program in collaboration with Merchants and Supply Chain. Build a team and process for total company sample review and approval.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive development of the sample review process for sourced products

  • Drive resolution of product quality issues that arise throughout the supply chain

  • Implement supply chain audit program

  • Collaborate with Legal and Merchant Teams on product quality and testing

Establish and lead Burlington’s Sample Approval program

  • Strategically design a sample approval program, including in-house testing to meet defined product specifications.

  • Collaborate with the Merchant team on program implementation and manage all process updates.

  • Oversee the review and approval of product samples to support the merchant team.

  • Drive development of an automated sample management system, in cooperation with IT and the Facility receiving teams, for tracking and review of Pre-Production and Top of Production samples.

Develop and lead program to mitigate product damage within the Supply Chain

  • Maintain master carton specifications and handling guidelines for vendors.

  • Collaborate with the stores, DCs, and pools to enhance Standard Operations Procedures.

  • Establish auditing parameters withing the supply chain.

  • Develop team to be the point of contact for all product quality issues that arise in the supply chain and drive resolution action plans utilizing standard quality tools such as root cause analysis.

  • Develop process, reporting tools, and KPI necessary to monitor supply chain performance.

  • Collaborate with Legal on identification and resolution of product safety concerns.

Organizational development and relationship management

  • Build a highly engaged high functioning team of quality and sample approval specialists

  • Cultivate a collaborative, creative, results-oriented work environment

  • Lead by example, to engage and inspire team

  • Manage, train, and develop team members

  • Provide mentoring and coaching on an ongoing basis

  • Drive team performance management including annual appraisals and development plans

  • Cultivate internal stakeholder relationships including merchandising, legal, transportation, and supply chain

Education: Bachelors of Science in a engineering or related field

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of quality experience for a major retailer

  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience

  • In depth knowledge of overseas sourcing processes and systems (PLM)

  • Knowledge of quality tools and techniques such as 6 Sigma, Lean, GMP, QMS or similar

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to analyze and review data to identify issues and prioritize solutions

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to build teamwork and resolve conflicts in high paced environment

  • Successful and effective management of teams in prior positions

  • Ability to influence others
