Posting Summary
Establish the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs in the Graduate College, in collaboration with the Dean, as a central source of expertise, guidance, support, and advocacy for Postdoctoral Scholars, their faculty, and administrators. Grow number and disciplinary breadth of Postdoctoral Scholars, broaden participation in postdoctoral training, and support recruitment of diverse scholars. Identify, advocate for, and design and implement resources and initiatives to meet the distinctive needs of Postdoctoral Scholars. Support, enhance, and promote postdoctoral training opportunities and professional and career development to help prepare Postdoctoral Scholars for successful research careers in the academy, government, industry, and other sectors. Educate Postdoctoral Scholars, faculty, and the campus community about University policies and concerns related to Postdoctoral Scholars and provide assistance to Postdoctoral Scholars, faculty, and administrative units in dealing with postdoctoral administrative issues. Collaborate with the Office of the Vice President for Research, faculty, academic units, Postdoctoral Association, and other campus partners to optimize the postdoctoral experience. Provide career coaching to Postdoctoral Scholars. Increase the visibility of Postdoctoral Scholars across UVM . Support extramural grant development. Represent the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs on campus and nationally. The Assistant Dean and Manager of Postdoctoral Affairs will serve as a member of the Dean of the Graduate Colleges Leadership Team.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
· Ph.D. degree
· experience as a postdoctoral scholar
· at least five years of related professional experience
· knowledge of academia and postdoctoral affairs
· demonstrated experience in collaboratively developing initiatives and programming in academic settings
· ability to work well with diverse groups of individuals across units on multiple high-level projects simultaneously
Desirable Qualifications
· 5+ years of experience planning academic programming
· career coaching experience
· experience obtaining extramural funding
experience using IDPs
Anticipated Pay Range $80,000 - $90,000
Other Information
Special Conditions A probationary period may be required, This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule with an option to split time between campus and elsewhere, in accordance with the university telecommuting policy, Background Check required for this position
