Posting Summary

The research laboratory of Brigitte Lavoie, PhD studies alteration of gallbladder smooth muscle activity in a model of gallstone disease with research interests including the regulation of gut motility by the enteric nervous system and altered intestinal motility associated with various pathophysiological conditions. The successful candidate for this position will perform standard laboratory duties and assist with experiments evaluating gastrointestinal function in health and disease states. Specific duties include the performance of small animal procedures, biochemical/molecular assays, and intestinal motility studies as well as the daily maintenance of animal colonies and the collection/presentation of research data.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Bachelor’s degree in related science and one to two years relevant laboratory experience. Prior experience with small laboratory animals and animal colony management.

Desirable Qualifications

Anticipated Pay Range $20.15/hr to $22.00/hour

100% grant-funded.

Special Conditions Contingent on continued funding, Bargaining unit position, Background Check required for this position, External candidates must complete a 4-month probationary period, A probationary period may be required for current UVM employees
