This role operates and maintains generator sets and tools used in the power generation process. Helps resolve electrical and mechanical problems, to achieve production targets.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs routine component installations and maintenance. Maintains records of equipment usage, repair history, reliability and other similar factors.

  • Safely troubleshoot, maintain and repair electrical / instrument equipment, reciprocating engines and/or balance of plant.

  • Power generating facility operations including, but not limited to, activities that involve local control panels, supervisor control, data acquisition systems, keys, switches, buttons, handles, valves, etc.

  • Perform not only instrument / electrical duties but provide mechanical assistance when needed with instructional direction.

  • Perform industrial maintenance activities including, but not limited to, the operation, maintenance and repair of pumps, fans, engines, fuel systems and remaining balance of plant operations.

  • Cooperates with other operators in the power plant to ensure workflow stability.

  • Reads and interprets mechanical and electrical blueprints and diagrams to select, position and secure machinery. Addresses equipment failures, calibrates errors and reports them to the lead technician or supervisor in a timely manner.

What You Have – Skills, Knowledge, & Experiences:

Standard Operating Procedures : Knowledge of established standard operating procedures (SOP); ability to design, implement and evaluate standard operating procedures affecting daily and strategic business operations in order to increase operational efficiency.

Level Extensive Experience:

  • Designs a standard operating procedure, detailing steps and activities, within a department; develops procedures, processes, and controls to implement and execute policy requirements.

  • Integrates best practices into the design, implementation and evaluation of organizational SOPs.

Decision Making and Critical Thinking : Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

Level Extensive Experience:

  • Differentiates assumptions, perspectives, and historical frameworks.

  • Evaluates past decisions for insights to improve decision-making process.

  • Assesses and validates decision options and points and predicts their potential impact.

  • Advises others in analyzing and synthesizing relevant data and assessing alternatives.

  • Uses effective decision-making approaches such as consultative, command, or consensus.

  • Ensures that assumptions and received wisdom are objectively analyzed in decisions.

Effective Communications : Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Level Working Knowledge:

  • Delivers helpful feedback that focuses on behaviors without offending the recipient.

  • Listens to feedback without defensiveness and uses it for own communication effectiveness.

Problem Solving : Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

Level Extensive Experience:

  • Ensures capture of lessons to be learned from a problem-solving effort.

  • Organizes potential problem solvers and leads problem resolution efforts.

  • Uses varying problem-solving approaches and techniques as appropriate.

  • Contributes to standard practices for problem-solving approaches, tools, and processes.

Power Generation : Knowledge of working principles, methods, equipment and processes of power generation; ability to apply the knowledge appropriately within the power supply sector.

Level Extensive Experience:

  • Oversees the processes of power generation to ensure a safe working environment.

  • Develops a maintenance and repair mechanism for power generation equipment.

  • Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems in power generation processes.

  • Creates a series of criteria and standards to evaluate electric power quality.

  • Monitors energy consumption and waste inside power plants.

  • Establishes an evaluation system to monitor generator operations.

Electrician Services : Knowledge of electrical power, lighting and control systems; ability to plan and perform electrical work for buildings, infrastructures, and equipment.

Level Extensive Experience:

  • Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring and lighting.

  • Oversees and carries out all activities and tasks associated with electrician services.

  • Evaluates and understands sketches and blueprints for wiring and equipment.

  • Ensures conformance with safety codes.

  • Troubleshoots control circuits, PLC’s and protective relays.

Troubleshooting Technical Problems : Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment.

Level Extensive Experience:

  • Evaluates business impact of failure and the criticality and timing of needed resolution.

  • Resolves difficult or high-impact equipment and systems problems.

  • Monitors machine performance and history; addresses excessive maintenance or repair needs.

  • Applies specific techniques for isolating a problem and defining resolution approach.

  • Uses advanced diagnostic techniques and tools for unusual or performance-related problems.
