Staff Accountant I

The Staff Accountant I is responsible for general accounting functions related to the monthly accounting cycle, which may include various expense accounts, revenue and accounts receivable, fixed assets, liabilities and accruals or other general accounting topics.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of monthly journal entries, analysis, and account reconciliations to ensure accurate closure of the monthly fiscal period.

  • Preparation of monthly reconciliations for all assigned balance sheet accounts, including supporting documentation for all balances.

  • Ensuring compliance by consistently achieving processing and reporting deadlines.

  • Safeguarding privileged and/or proprietary information to maintain confidentiality.

  • Assisting business unit management with financial information requests as needed.

  • Providing support for annual internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and cross-checking financial statements and footnotes.

    Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.

  • Prior experience in accounting or a related field is preferred.

  • Experience with Yardi Voyager is preferred.

  • Familiarity with accounting software or sub-ledger is preferred.

  • Demonstrated understanding of accounting principles is required.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) is required.

  • Understanding of ledger accounts is preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, problem-solving, planning, and analysis skills are required.

  • Strong relationship management, organizing, and customer service skills are required.

  • Candidates are expected to meet multiple deadlines, maintain confidentiality, implement process improvement changes, and pay close attention to details.

  • Candidates are expected to adapt and flex to a changing environment.

    In the states of Colorado, California, Washington, and Illinois; the anticipated pay range/scale for this position is $26.75-$33.45 per hour. Actual starting base pay within this range will depend on factors including geographic location, education, training, skills, and relevant experience.

    Employees also have the opportunity to participate in medical, dental and vision insurance; flexible spending accounts and/or health savings accounts; dependent savings accounts; 401(k) with company matching contributions; employee stock purchase plan; and, a tuition reimbursement program. The Company provides 9 paid holidays per year and, upon hire, new employees will accrue paid time off (PTO) at a rate of 0.0577 hours of PTO per hour worked, up to a maximum of 120 hours per year.
