DESCRIPTION:

ABSI Aerospace & Defense is an innovative small business located in Southern Maryland near Naval Air Station Patuxent River. Operating in the quickly evolving areas of unmanned/manned systems integration, LVC simulations and training, test and evaluation, training, and autonomous systems. ABSI is growing rapidly. The UAS Pilot will support airport centric UAS research efforts comprising of tests, evaluations, and studies that support efficiencies in the National Airspace System.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The UAS Pilot will be responsible for:

  • Providing expertise in the operation of unmanned aircraft.

  • Developing flight test plans and procedures.

  • Developing briefing and training materials to support flight operations.

  • Planning and performing a wide range of in-process and final testing of analog, digital, microwave, optical and mechanical systems and equipment under ambient and environmental conditions.

  • Providing technical knowledge and experience with UAS operations to facilitate their integration safely and efficiently into the NAS.

  • Collaborating with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, which includes manufacturers, commercial vendors, industry trade associations, technical standards organizations, academic institutions, research and development centers, governmental agencies, and other regulators.

  • Providing technical knowledge and experience to support UAS integration into the NAS without reducing existing capacity, decreasing safety, negatively impacting current operators, or increasing the risk to airspace users or persons and property on the ground any more than the integration of comparable new and novel technologies.

  • Performing other duties as assigned

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • UAS Part 107 certificate with a minimum of 100 logged UAS flight hours (not simulator)

  • Experience with filing COAs and waiver, and flying various types of UAS platforms

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience operating UAS in multiple classes of airspace and on airport property

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and web-based collaborative resources such as SharePoint and Microsoft Teams
