Job Function:General Administration Position Description:Primary responsibilities include:

Program Development: Design and implement student development programs focusing on leadership, experiential learning, and areas of growth for student leaders and student-run organizations across the university related to global health. Manages, evaluates, and improves HGHI’s student engagement programs. Collaborates with faculty directors to develop and implement strategic goals for student engagement. Develops specialized reports; analyze data and make recommendations for use in strategic planning. Ensure compliance with University policies for student programming and funding.

Strategic Partnership Development and Oversight: Develops and sustains approximately 50 community partnerships annually. Creates new partnerships based on current trends in global health and, when possible, conducts site visits to engage new partnerships and/or assess existing partnerships. Review applicants and recommend candidates whose experience matches the needs of each organization.

Inter-departmental Collaboration: Collaborates closely with other departments on campus to support courses, campus-wide events, joint programming, joint-funding awards, and student engagement initiatives.

Intern Oversight and Support: Supports approximately 70 student interns who are selected for HGHI’s summer research and internship programs. This includes developing and delivering a curriculum for pre-departure and post-experience workshops and providing emergency support in collaboration with Harvard Global Support Services as needed.

Student Engagement, Advising, & Communication: Advises and supports student organizations by offering programming advice and assistance, and mentoring organizational leadership. Manages and oversees HGHI’s Student Advisory Committee and advises any undergraduate students at the college about extracurricular and professional pathways in the global health sector. Organize workshops seminars, and social events to enhance program cohesion. Supports HGHI’s student communication efforts, which include email listservs, websites, and student bulletins that connect students to academic and professional opportunities for the entire student community.

Staff Supervision: Supervises program coordinator and student employees who provide logistical and administrative support for HGHI’s student engagement initiatives.

Budget Management: Manages budgets for faculty support and HGHI student engagement initiatives, making direct payments to student recipients of HGHI funding and coordinating journals with financial administrators as needed for faculty salary payments. In partnership with the Finance department, ensures financial compliance with University policies and procedures and applicable legal rules and regulations.
