Position Description:This is a fully benefited, full-time Harvard University position that has been funded for one year from date of hire. There is the possibility of renewal, contingent on funding, university priorities and satisfactory job performance.

The Business System Analyst is responsible for supporting Harvard University's Oracle Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) Planning system. This role requires strong technical skills in writing calculation scripts, business rules, and managing other configuration aspects of Oracle EPM Planning.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Write and maintain calculation scripts in Oracle Planning's calc scripting language to model complex business logic and calculations for planning models.

  • Define and maintain business rules in Oracle Planning and Groovy to enforce validation, constraints, and automation across planning processes.

  • Configure drivers, dimensions, hierarchies and other metadata aspects of Oracle Planning models.

  • Perform testing, debugging and troubleshooting of business rules to ensure calculations are functioning as intended.

  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to business users on Oracle Planning functionality and processes.

  • Analyze business requirements and workflow needs to recommend enhancements to existing Oracle Planning configurations.

  • Develop training and documentation materials for business users.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into systems requirements and scoping

  • Work on an Agile team to deliver technical solutions that meet our user's needs.

  • Ensure that operational tasks are completed on time and coordinate with business units as needed.

  • Participate in production support by responding to user tickets, user questions, system issues and requests for data sets, reports and system enhancements. Independently research and troubleshoot any issues. Consult other analysts as needed.

  • Identify opportunities for process and/or system improvements. Make suggestions to implement those changes.

  • Analyze business processes and requirements and document functional specifications for system enhancements and new applications

HUIT actively supports hybrid work where business needs allow. This position has been designated as a primarily remote position. While this position is primarily remote, travel to campus may be necessary based on business needs and the nature of work. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only).
