ABOUT THE ROLE:

Global Publications Lead, Neuroscience, is a key strategic partner of the Neuroscience Medical Affairs team who develops, prioritizes, and implements the strategic global publication planning for the assigned program. The Global Publications Lead works in close collaboration with key stakeholders in TAU, Region/LOCs, global medical strategy, GPT, global epidemiology & outcomes research (GEO), global medical evidence, and medical communications to ensure alignment with asset strategy.

Provides and leads on high level strategic thinking for innovative strategies in developing and disseminating Takeda’s scientific and medical data at the Global level.

Development of the global publications plan for assigned programs with the ability to lead and collaborate effectively across numerous internal and external stakeholders (e.g. scientific and healthcare professionals).

Bringing deep subject matter expertise in industry publication practices and responsibility to ensure Takeda standards/SOPs are implemented both with external stakeholders, internal cross-functional teams, and vendors

You will report to the Group Lead, Global Scientific Communications, Neuroscience

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Develop, manage, and execute the strategic product/disease area global publication plan in collaboration with key cross-functional team members (i.e. TAU, Region/LOCs, global medical strategy, global epidemiology & outcomes research (GEO), global medical evidence, and medical communications, etc.).

Collaborate with external authors and journals for the planning, integration, and execution of R&D publication activities.

Ensure that all of Takeda’s publication related activities are conducted according to Takeda’s standards, SOPs, and applicable working instructions, as well as good publication practice guidelines (including but not limited to GPP 2022 Update, ICMJE, CONSORT, etc…)

Serve as the leader of publications, create, and foster a spirit of cooperation, diversity of opinion and an environment of psychological safety and open communication in the establishment and execution of annual program strategies, objectives, and priorities.

Promote and ensure good publication practices and principles among authors and the internal publication stakeholder community ensuring high scientific quality & alignment with compliance/legal requirements.

Manage 3rd-party vendors and independent contractors to ensure the timely delivery of quality publications. Ensure that vendors are properly trained to and comply with Takeda’s standards, on SOPs, company systems and tools. Manage all vendor partners to execute the tactical plan effectively and efficiently for their assigned publication projects.

Creation, review and oversight of assigned asset(s) publication budget to support publications plan activities and serve as a financial steward in the creation of publication deliverable approaches and in the use of external vendors.

Ensure and communicate regular updates to relevant key stakeholders to facilitate ongoing functional and regional planning and inform dependencies.

Be a role model for Takeda´s values and a DE+I champion.

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

A higher education degree (M.D., Pharm.D., Ph.D.), or master’s degree in biomedical discipline or equivalent with demonstrated experience in publication management

8-10+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience, at least half of which is in Medical Affairs

5-8 years’ experience in medical publications/communications, or other related areas within the biopharmaceutical industry, preferably within a matrix structure, in Medical Affairs or Clinical Development (e.g. clinical scientist, medical information, medical communications, medical information, publications).

Understanding of the pharmaceutical drug development process, clinical trial design and execution, statistical methods, and clinical trial data reporting requirements.

Knowledge of the scientific publication planning processes, good publication practice (GPP 2022 Update), other publication-related guidelines (ICMJE, COPE) and of scientific reporting standards for studies (CONSORT, STROBE, PRISMA, etc..).

Experience and knowledge of publication management software/systems.

Ability to foster diversity of opinion and an environment of open communication and trust.

Demonstrated ability in coordinating and implementing simultaneous projects within a complex global matrix and align region and country-specific priorities into a unified approach that meets multiple stakeholder needs.

Proactive, enterprise thinker with multicultural outlook, and the ability to work effectively in a geographically and functionally dispersed organization.

Experience in vendor and budget management.

Experience in Neuroscience a plus

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$149,100.00 - $234,300.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
