Posting Summary | Rutgers University-Camden is seeking a Senior Program Coordinator for Multicultural Affairs in the Division of Diversity, Inclusion and Community Engagement. Rutgers-Camden is a recently designated Minority Serving Institution (MSI), Asian American, Native American and Pacific Islander Serving Institution and is on track to become a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) within the next three years. To help assure the success of students within these populations and provide support and programming to the entire campus community, the Senior Student Program Coordinator for Multicultural Affairs will be responsible for planning, facilitating, and implementing initiatives and programs to deepen students sense of belonging, develop/refine their identity as scholars and increase student engagement to increase their overall persistence and retention. Under the supervision of the Director for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Division of Diversity, Inclusion and Community Engagement, the Senior Program Coordinator serves as administrative support to the supervisor, program coordinator for student programming and a point of contact for students, faculty and staff who wish to engage with multicultural programming. This person is responsible for helping to institutionalize support/retention mechanisms for underrepresented (e.g. first-generation, students of color, low-incomes) students on-campus, including coordinating, implementing, and managing efforts that inform and engage underrepresented students in opportunities and resources to help support their personal, career, and academic success. This includes managing communication efforts to students and campus constituents, coordinating and overseeing workshops and campus-wide programs for students and/or their families, develop and manage large-scale programs such as cultural heritage months, participating in summer orientations and bridge programs, updating/maintaining related web and social media pages, as well as collaborating with campus partners to continue to create a campus culture of inclusivity.The Senior Programs Coordinator will utilize various methods, including appreciative advising methodology, positive psychology, and other coaching models, to guide the implementation of successful strategies and initiatives to ensure success throughout students' undergraduate careers. Effective collaboration amongst a network of campus units (Wellness Center, Center for Learning and Student Success, advising offices, Career Center, Financial Aid, Dean of Students, etc.) will be integral to the Senior Program Coordinator responsibilities. The duties of this position will have an emphasis on knowledge and implementation of student success programming for historically excluded populations. Must be available to work extended evenings, weekends, and summers. This is a grant funded position contingent upon the availability of funds to support it. |

In addition, demonstrated experience in developing student learning outcomes, data analysis, and reporting. * Ability and willingness to work collaboratively. * Working knowledge of student development theory, appreciative advising model, and other student-centered approaches. * Ability to motivate students toward success and achievement of goals. * Ability to process/analyze complex information and effectively communicate it to students, parents, and administrators. * Strong knowledge of student support programs and ability to make proper referrals based on comprehensive assessments. * Attention to detail and the ability to follow through with assisting students. * Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. * Ability to function in multi-campus and team environments.To provide holistic student success support to underrepresented undergraduate students, the Senior Programs Coordinator must demonstrate experience in and awareness of best practices in student success, advising, academic support, program design and evaluation, and retention. Experience with curriculum development, event planning, data analysis, and reporting is integral in being able to help support the development and presentation of assessment efforts. Experience coordinating and executing targeted communication efforts to students is required. |
Preferred Qualifications | Master's Degree: Experience with teaching, grant writing, curriculum design in higher education, and LSW or related certification/licensing preferred. Experience working with underrepresented (first-generation, students of color, low-income, etc.) student populations are strongly preferred. Experience using emerging technologies and social media to communicate to undergraduates is preferred. Experience in developing/coordinating student leadership programs including summer orientations and bridge programs preferred. Experience facilitating programs, workshops, support groups and other services that promote retention, engagement, motivation, and sense of community for affinity groups/special populations (i.e. minority males). |
Equipment Utilized | MS Office, internet, computer competency in reading and evaluating spreadsheets, databases, student information systems, and other computer-based platforms including EAB and Qualtrics. Incumbent will use social media tools to communicate with students and other constituents. |
