General Summary The Senior Data Scientist will enhance the Procurement organization's capabilities through data science and advanced analytics. This position is responsible for contributing to the execution of initiaitives that leverage data to drive efficiency, innovation, and decision-making processes. The role involves close collaboration with IT and cross-functional teams to develop and implement analytical tools and solutions that support the organziation's growth objectives. Principal Accountabilities - Develop and apply predictive analytics to align procurement risk management strategies with broader business objectives, facilitating informed decision-making. - Translate complex data insights into actional recommendations, presenting findings to senior management and working closely within procurement teams to implement data-driven solutions. - Implement and optimize analytical solutions to automate procurement processes, enhance decision-making, and identify innovative sourcing opportunities. - Collaborate with IT and business partners to implement data-driven solutions for cost reduction and quality improvement. - Support a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and collaboration, offering expertise and insights to enhance team capabilities and project outcomes. Job Complexity Collaborate effectively across all levels within the organization and with external suppliers in a matrixed environment to align on supply base design and strategic procurement decisions. Balance competing business requirements, such as cost versus innovation or local versus overall benefits, to negotiate and recommend optimal solutions. Navigate and refine complex data environments by spearheading the cleanup and organization of unstructured data, ensuring data quality and accessibility are maintained for effective analysis and insights despite initial data storage and accessibility challenges. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of industry costs, procurement methods, pricing practices, as well as the impact of government actions on commodities. Job Specifications Minimum education required: Master's degree, or PhD in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Financial Engineering, Operations Research, Engineering, Computer Science or related disciplines Years of relevant experience: 2 years with Bachelor's degree or Master's degree or PhD degree Knowledge, skills and abilities required: Basic: 1 years' experience in open source programming languages for large scale data analysis 1 years' experience with econometric modeling, regression analytics or machine learning 1 years' experience with relational databases Desired: 2 years'
