DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Corrections Refrigeration Mechanic Trade Instructor, you will supervise and instruct inmates in a structured classroom and on-the-job training program in the refrigeration mechanic trade. This includes the standard practices, methods, and procedures of the refrigeration mechanic trade involving the installation, repair, inspection, and maintenance of refrigeration and air conditioning systems and related equipment.

You will also conduct classroom training through delivery of an appropriate curriculum of the trade, maintain order and discipline of inmates during work assignments and classroom instruction, and maintain documentation of all inmate training progress, attendance, and assignment details. Other duties include, oversee and direct inmate work crews in completing refrigeration work orders as part of the on-the-job training provided and to plan and assign daily inmate schedules and inspects completed work assignments.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 40 hours per week Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a paid lunch period. This position is eligible for full benefits at age 50 or 55. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Five years of experience in the repair and servicing of refrigeration systems or air conditioning systems; or Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade.

Special Requirement: You must be in possession of an active Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certificate issued by an approved provider.

Other Requirements: You must successfully complete basic training in Elizabethtown, PA. You must meet the PA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the link and click on Residency. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
