Job Title: Shop Mechanic

Job Description

In this role, you will disassemble, clean, repair, and reassemble electric motors & pumps. Some grinding may also be involved. The job requires a strong mechanical, and electrical knowledge is preferred. You will be tasked with testing electro-mechanical rotating equipment to troubleshoot known or suspected problems using various methods (AC/DC). Your duties will also include replacing or repairing worn or defective mechanical or electrical parts and assemblies such as brushes, bearings, brush holders, motor leads, gears, seals, impellers, mechanical switches, brakes, clutches, tachometers, fans, etc. You will operate specialized repair and testing equipment, including but not limited to: test panels, surge testers, core loss testers, burnout ovens, cut off saws, grinders, drills, cranes, forklift trucks, torches, dip tank, VPI systems, etc. Additionally, you will report to the department supervisor and work with others in your department.

Work Environment

This position is located in a shop atmosphere where you will be exposed to loud noises, dirt, and temperature variations. The work schedule is first shift from 6am - 2:30pm with overtime when necessary. Pay ranges from $20-25/hr based on experience and could go higher for the right candidate. Flexible hours are available once you prove your reliability. You will need to provide your own steel-toed boots and hand tools. Uniforms will be provided upon becoming an employee and possibly during the probationary period. You will need to wear jeans and an appropriate shirt.
