Vision Point Systems, Inc. Quality Assurance Representative (QAR) - Corrosion Prevention and Control in Camp Pendleton, California

Corrosion Service Teams (CSTs) provide organizational level Corrosion Prevention and Control (CPAC) services defined by Marine Corps Technical Manual 4795-OR/1A and associated USMC CPAC policies and procedures. A valued member of the CST, the CST Quality Assurance Representative (QAR) ensures the production of the CST Team(s) comply with quality standards as defined by Marine Corps Technical Manual 4795-OR/1A, organizational policies, and procedures. QARs have a working knowledge of all CPAC policies, procedures, responsibilities, and billets within the CST. QARs observe production for visible defects, perform various tests to check for durability of the product and other desirable characteristics, record findings, prepare reports, accepts, or rejects assets produced, participates in the implementation of quality control programs, prepares quality guidelines, and performs other assigned duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a CPAC QAR:

  • Review and understand all Marine Corps Orders, technical manuals, and policies involving Corrosion Prevention and Control. QARs will abide by the CPAC program standards when inspecting production, checking for durability of the product and other desirable characteristics, recording findings, preparing reports, and accepting or rejecting assets produced.
  • Inspect, assess, validate, verify, and document corrosion category code III, IV, and V equipment.
  • Conduct on-the-spot training to ensure proper classification of corrosion category codes
  • Perform point inspections and provide quality control on surface preparation and touch-up procedures to ensure compliance with applicable publications and procedures. Provide the team lead with observations for immediate correction.

  • Inspect application equipment checking for faults.
  • Periodically check assessment process to verify compliance with assessment procedures, to include proper use of the Corrosion Assessment Checklist (CAC).
  • Enforce compliance of all safety procedures to include personal protective equipment and environmental regulations.
  • Periodically inspect the required publications to ensure the most current and up to date references are maintained and available.
  • Record findings, complete project documentation, and submit reports as directed
  • Certify initial and annual recertification of CST team leads, assistant team leads, and service technicians.

Requirements:

  • Hold or be capable of passing a background check to receive identification credentials through the Defense Biometric Identification System.
  • Hold or be capable of obtaining a Secret clearance prior to being granted access to classified information up to the level of Secret.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify mistakes and direct corrective action plans.
  • Able to communicate effectively.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Possess a valid state drivers license.
  • Within two years of employment, possess the ability to pass the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AAMP), Coating Inspector Program - Level 1 certification course. The employer will provide the arrangements to attend the course. It is incumbent of the QAR to pass the course.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Frequently stand and walk throughout the day.
  • During short-durations, QARs may be required to lift to 50 pounds safely.
  • During long-durations, QARs may be required to mount and dismount military and support equipment of varying heights safely.
  • During long-durations, QARs may be required to work in outdoor weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, etc.).
  • During long-durations, QARs may be required to wear and use company provided personal protective equipment (PPE), which includes but is not limited to: safety goggles, hand protection, and respirator equipment, etc.
  • Visual accuracy is required.

Education/Experience:

  • Possess a High School diploma or equivalent, and/or a vocational degree.
  • Prefer a degree from a military school, which provided an in-depth knowledge of Marine Corps operations and maintenance practices.
  • Possess five (5) years of demonstrated experience in Quality Assurance processes related to CPAC Programs and shall have five (5) years demonstrated experience in Quality Assurance processes.
