Salary: $21.09 - $22.46

Position Overview

Do you love the art of movement? Would you like to teach others your same love? Join us at The Arc Ontario as a Movement Specialist! You will lead the way in fun, dynamic movement sessions, both one-on-one and in groups! You will work to maximize a variety of skills via movement to include: social, intellectual, emotional, physical and behavioral. You will promote the well-being of program participants and the protection of their individual rights, through the support of agency mission, vision and values.

Work Location: Canandaigua, NY

Schedule: Full-Time - Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:00pm with flexibility in schedule required to meet agency needs

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for coordinating movement programs offered for day habilitation participants, and other waiver supports. Utilizes a combination or movement & dance to facilitate skill building, maintains movement curriculum that is based upon each participant's needs.

  • Serves as a resource person for staff, regarding how to utilize movement as a teaching and skill building tool. Provides staff training, as requested, in small and large groups.

  • Completes an initial informal assessment of individual's response and participation in movement & dance activities. Determines a plan that will best meet the needs of the individual.

    Requirements

  • BA/BS in Movement/Dance and over 3 months of experience working with the people with disabilities, or an equivalent amount of education and experience.
