At a Glance

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Global Manager – Transportation & Trade Compliance to join the Data, Power, and Control Division in Canonsburg, PA, or REMOTE. The DPC Global Transportation & Trade Compliance Manager will provide operational oversight and set the strategic direction for Transportation and Trade Compliance for DPC in leveraging with LNCA guidelines. This position will build an effective cross-functional integration between the Transportation Team, Operations, Distribution Centers, and Global resources across DPC. Leading the Transportation team, this position will guide in establishing the most cost-effective, timely, and secure movement of goods in all modes of transport (ocean, rail, TL, LTL, parcel, and air) while overseeing trade compliance.

This position will report to the Senior Director of Strategic Sourcing for DPC and dotted line into the LNCA Director of Trade Compliance & Transportation and will work closely to support other functional business partners.

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Direct all internal trade compliance initiatives within all operating divisions

  • Develop strategic partnerships, drive carrier selection, and manage supplier relationships

  • Develop & implement a supply quality program to provide a reliable carrier network, on-time delivery, and availability while balancing cost.

  • Implement innovative ways to achieve service and cost reduction, and/or deliver through new channels

  • Implement diagnostic tools/analytics to identify negative cost drivers and identify opportunities to promote an ongoing improvement of carrier service and cost measures

  • Implement and ensure company compliance with Policies and Procedures that govern the transportation operating environment

  • Responsible for department budget preparation, analysis, and administration; monitor expenditures; approve invoices and purchases

  • Stay abreast of economic and market dynamics to ensure effective capacity and budget planning

  • Procure and oversee third-party logistics partnerships

  • Ensure all transportation master data is maintained and accurate

  • Consistently support compliance by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and the Company’s policies and procedures

  • Effectively manage, develop, and motivate direct and indirect reports

  • Provide effective, constructive, and appropriate feedback and leadership to direct reports to foster a positive, team atmosphere; ensure personal and professional development of direct reports

  • Initiate and assist with the creation, development, and implementation of processes and procedures

  • Understand workplace hazards and take steps to proactively prevent and report hazards or injuries in the workplace. Cooperate in safety programs, initiatives, and investigations.

Qualifications

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge of Import/Export Trade regulations/compliance in the global supply chain

  • Knowledge of 3PL systems, as well as fuel markets, transportation market capacity, and trends.

  • Understand the methodologies to drive a new business model and customer transportation setup needs

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral presentation, and written communication skills; professional presence and behavior

  • Strong computer and technology skills including proficiency in Excel Pivot Tables.

  • Proven ability to manage people; train and motivate employees, as well as delegate effectively

  • Must be able to function in a deadline-driven environment

  • Proven ability to make sound decisions to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations, or government law

  • Excellent project management, planning, and organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage several projects at one time while providing high attention to detail and excellent follow-through skills

  • Must possess a high degree of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information

    Minimum Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Transportation & Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or other related technical degree with (10) years’ experience or a combination of relevant education and experience.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Transportation Management Systems preferred.

    WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • General office environment

  • May require regular ground travel to other company facilities

  • Long-distance or air travel as needed – not to exceed 25% of travel
