Job Summary:

APTIM is seeking an experienced electrical designer to join our team of engineering professionals serving our Government and Commercial programs.

Designers will apply critical thinking skills to initial planning, procurement support, plan development, design, construction and commissioning phases of projects. APTIM expects our designers to be creative problem solvers and actively look for the best way to support our varied Government and commercial clients. Designers will often work on multiple projects simultaneously and perform other duties as required. Understanding of basic corporate mechanisms such as scopes of work, construction safety protocols, and experience in a professional work environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed electrical drawings using computer-aided (CADD) software.

  • Coordinate with and consult Engineers and other discipline Engineers/Designers to design, lay out, or detail components and systems and to resolve technical and other issues.

  • Conform to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as to company policies and procedures.

  • Able to develop detailed design drawings for power distribution, controls, instrumentation, communications, and fire detection/alarming systems and equipment.

  • Other duties include collecting and compiling field data as required, assisting with preparation of material estimates, and providing other duties as assigned.

  • Organizes own work to meet deadlines set by others.

  • Communicates information, asks questions, and checks for understanding.

  • Contributes to a team environment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Has basic knowledge of theories, practices and procedures in electrical engineering technology.

  • Requires Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology (or related degree or equivalent experience)

  • 10+ years related experience

  • Strong computer skills including training and/or experience with CADD (AutoCAD, REVIT, and/or MicroStation, etc.) and with Office products (Word, Excel, etc.)

  • Good verbal and writing skills.

  • Factory, field, and/or construction experience a plus.

  • Practical electrical skills a plus.

  • Candidates must be willing to travel for infrequent (typically short) field/site visits.
