Ohio Gratings Inc Assistant Burn Table Operator in Canton, Ohio

Company: Ohio Gratings Inc Location: Canton, OH Position: Assistant Burn Table Operator

Responsible for assisting in the efficient operation of the burn table, including loading and material handling, while adhering to Ohio Gratings' values and ensuring a safe working environment during day-to-day operations. This role involves using the company's ERP system, EPICOR, to properly transact work product steps and account for production time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engage in cross-training in different areas within the organization to gain a deeper understanding of the Ohio Gratings product line and advance your career. This may include learning new skills such as welding or material handling if instructed by management.
  • Locate and verify material before moving it to the machine area.
  • Handle, stage, and load material to ensure CNC burn tables exceed daily safety, quality, delivery, and productivity expectations.
  • Follow all operating procedures, process instructions, and safety rules.
  • Use the ERP system EPICOR to properly transact work product steps and account for production time.
  • Coordinate and maintain regular communication with the team and supervisor, relaying any quality or safety issues that occur.
  • Safely unload piece parts after completing cutting operations.
  • Remove and properly dispose of scrap while identifying and marking salvageable panels as drops.
  • Move drops to the designated area.
  • Document the mark number on the cut material per production document/traveler.
  • Grind and clean up pieces as needed immediately after removal from the machine.
  • Recognize and report all defects to operators, line lead, and supervisor.
  • Assist in performing operator preventative maintenance.
  • Train new associates as required by supervision.
  • Follow good workstation housekeeping practices to maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Safely operate the machine for short intervals.
  • Perform other duties and cross-train as assigned by supervision.

EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, AND PROFICIENCIES: In addition to a high school diploma or equivalent, the following skills and/or experience are required:

  • Prior fabrication experience such as crane operation, metal processing, and material handling equipment experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as travelers, procedures, and instructions.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide by 10's and 100's without the use of a calculator.
  • Ability to perform mathematical operations involving whole numbers and fractions in both standard and metric units of measurement.

The following experience and abilities are preferred:

  • 1+ years of prior manufacturing experience with a steel or aluminum manufacturer.
  • 1+ years of experience operating complex CNC-controlled machines.
  • 1+ years of experience with overhead cranes and forklifts.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and comprehend blueprint drawings.
