TEKsystems Sr Systems Administrator in Carlsbad, California
Description:
The Sr Systems Administrator is a key member of the IT Infrastructure team. The Sr. Systems Administrator is responsible for managing, monitoring, & maintaining the client’s IT infrastructure, including servers, software, desktop systems, and cloud infrastructure across locations in the United States. These operations include corporate offices, datacenters, and wind and solar power generation plants owned and/or managed by the client. The Systems Administration team ensures that this critical infrastructure is secure, highly available, right sized, and compliant with all regulatory guidelines by which CEG is governed. The Sr Systems Administrator also assists with IT architecture support, strategic vision, tactical coordination, and mentorship.
Systems/Applications Integration:
Responsible for the maintenance, updates, planning and installation of servers and application software
Manage and support the the client's Microsoft Office 365 environment, including account management, email security, and device maintenance and deployment
Responsible for comprehensive support of a complex Azure Active Directory, including identity access management and administering AD topologies in a hybrid environment
Assist in the design of proper systems architecture to achieve the client’s strategic business goals
Coordinate with the client's compliance and cybersecurity teams to align processes with all regulatory requirements
Facilitate the deployment of new infrastructure and application integration to support business needs
Assist in the development and documentation of technical standards, ticketing system problem queue entry and closure, and interface applications.
Mentorship & Team Coordination:
Provide mentorship for the team of IT engineers, technicians, and administrative personnel
Provide strategic vision to analyze and evaluate new technologies and solutions to enhance the IT environment to serve strategic and tactical business objectives
Coordinate and participate in planned maintenance activities to ensure IT systems are properly implemented and maintained according to best practices with as little impact to the business as possible
Develop and maintain proper processes, procedures, and system documentation according to industry best practices and regulatory requirements
Servers and Storage Hardware & Software Systems Oversight:
Analyze, implement, and support servers, storage hardware, and network equipment
Coordinate and implement the monitoring of storage, disk usage, system tuning, and make recommendations
Analyze and provide guidance for and apply data storage, backup, and server patches and fixes
Ensure the company’s data is sufficiently replicated and/or backed up to meet regulatory requirements
Provide direct support for end-users
Responsibilities may require evening and weekend work in response to needs of the systems being supported
This role requires expert level knowledge of following:
Microsoft Windows Server operating system, Microsoft O365, and Intune
Microsoft Azure Active Directory, AD Group Policy, AD Federation/Integration in a hybrid environment
VMware Virtual Center, hypervisors, and management tools
Storage arrays and Network Attached Storage (NAS) solutions
Compute infrastructure and Server Manager software
Hyperconverged server systems
Storage Area Networks
Storage replications technologies
SSL certificate management
Understanding of disaster recovery principals
This role requires a strong working knowledge of the following:
Network Load Balancing
Networking concepts (i.e., Firewalls, VLANs and VLAN tagging, IP subnetting, IP routing, etc.)
Encryption technologies (i.e. SSL, TLS, VPNs, etc.)
Data center facilities (i.e., power, UPS, cooling, etc.)
ITIL framework
Capacity and resource planning capabilities and knowledge of associated relevant tools
Knowledge of data center security policies and procedures, penetration testing, and methods of auditing
Strong incident management skills.
Regulatory compliance experience
Exceptional work ethic and time management skills
Ability to work well independently and/or as part of a team
Strong communication skills and a commitment to customer service
Ability to travel 10% of the time, and on short notice
Participate in after hours on call rotation as necessary for problem resolution, and project management/installations
Preferred Qualifications
An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or a similar field is preferred. Significant experience in key Information Technology competencies will be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
4 years of experience designing, implementing, administering, and supporting server and storage infrastructure as well as Microsoft directory services and messaging platforms in an enterprise environment
