Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as theDeputy Fire Marshaland join our team to support our government customer in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

The responsibilities will include initiating and tracking fire protection system impairments, perform code analyses for site modifications, support/perform design reviews, review ECNs, perform life safety code compliance inspections, perform fire investigations, issue hot work permits, issue combustible loading permits, inspect construction sites. This position requires the ability to perform field work in varied conditions, including indoors and outdoors, surface and underground. The deputy fire marshal will report to the site Fire Marshal.

Exempt Grade Levels (30-36)

Minimum Requirements:These requirements must be met to be considered for this posting. Uploaded resumes and completed applications are the means of determination.

  • Master's degree in Fire Protection Engineering/Technology or other related engineering discipline, or

  • Bachelor-s degree with two (2) years of professional experience, or

  • Associate-s degree with six (6) years of professional experience, or

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency with ten (10) years of professional experience is required.

Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Certified Fire Inspector, Certified Fire Investigator, Certified Fire Protection Specialist.

  • Previous experience working at DOE nuclear facility is a plus.

  • Previous WIPP Project experience is a plus.

Minimum salary $78,719 per year of a larger salary range --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate-s relevant experience and education.
