       Description:Job Summary: SUPERVISES: 1. All personnel assigned to the middle school2. Other personnel as assigned by the Superintendent POSITION GOAL: To use leadership, supervisory and administrative skills to promote the educational development of each student and the professional development of each staff member. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establishes, maintains, and is accountable for an effective learning environment in the school.

  • Exercises leadership in establishing and clarifying short and long-range educational goals.

  • Promotes positive action toward the realization of school objectives through efficient procedures, curriculum, extra-curricular programs, and the establishment of staff, student, and community committees.

  • Designs and implements a building-level communication system which effectively meets the needs of the staff and students.

  • Develops a program of public relations in order to further the community's understanding and support of the educational program.

  • Develops and implements a staff-improvement program for teachers in the building in coordination with the superintendent.

  • Assumes major responsibility in the recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning, and evaluating all certificated personnel assigned to the school.

  • Assists in the recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning, and evaluating of all non-certificated personnel assigned to the school.

  • Assumes responsibility for the scheduling of all classes in the Middle School and for ensuring that all students are scheduled for classes in accordance with Board Policy.

  • Assumes responsibility for the safety of all personnel and exercises decisive leadership in crisis situations.

  • Plans and supervises fire drills and an emergency preparedness program.

  • Establishes and maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary according to due process of the rights of students.

  • Prepares and submits the school's budgetary requests and monitor the expenditure of funds.

  • Assumes the responsibility for the observance and implementation of Board policies and administration regulations.

  • Enforces all district policies.

  • Coordinates scheduling of school/community activities with the superintendent's office.

  • Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports, records, lists and all other paperwork required by local policy and state law.

  • Directs the coordination and maintenance of the school's pupil services including guidance and counseling, health, library and student records.

  • Defines and delegates appropriate supervisory responsibility for all Middle School activities. Plans for the proper conduct of participants and spectators at all public events.

  • Delegates authority of personnel to assume responsibility for the school in the absence of the administrators.

  • Reports to the superintendent regarding the needs of the school with respect to personnel, finance, curriculum, facilities, equipment and supplies.

  • Keeps abreast of trends, promising ideas, and research in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional literature and discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field.

  • Manages and be accountable for the effectiveness of the student services and activities programs, including development and proper implementation of guidelines for activity sponsors.

  • Serves as a member of such committees and attends such meetings as directed to by the superintendent.

  • Supervises the maintenance of accurate records on the progress and attendance of students

  • Assists in the development and implementation of accommodations to Section 504, ADA and IDEA for the building.

  • Assists in the communication of the school's philosophy, purposes, programs, and problems to the students, staff, central staff, Board, and community.

  • Assists in the preparation of the student and teacher handbooks.

  • Assists in the development of appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of students in the Carroll Community School District and assume responsibility for the enforcement of all disciplinary policies.

  • Assists in the organization, planning, and implementation of summer school programs.

  • Performs such other duties as the superintendent may assign.
